Modern Chinese vocabulary is mainly written and expressed in the form of Chinese characters,but there are some words represented by the form of letter writing,which is usually called the letter word in the academic circles.Alphabet word is a special kind in modern Chinese vocabulary,it has various forms,there are pure Latin acronym form,there are letters and Chinese characters combination form,there are letters and numbers or symbols combination form,there are a few Greek alphabet form.On the basis of summing up the previous experience,this paper studies the definition and classification of alphabetic words,and investigates the recognition of alphabetic words by foreign students,and then studies the application of alphabetic words from the perspective of cross-cultural communication.This paper is mainly divided into four chapters to study alphabetic words.The first chapter introduces the origin of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,research methods,as well as related literature review and corpus source issues.The second chapter is the ontology research part of alphabetic words,we mainly define the name and content of alphabetic words,and then classify the collected alphabetic words.This chapter mainly starts from the letter angle according to the letter source,the letter quantity and the letter generation way divides the letter word into three big categories,then according to each class letter different characteristic carries on the elaboration.The third chapter is mainly aimed at the foreign students' recognition of alphabetic words.This chapter is divided into two parts,the first part mainly explains the related problems of the survey on the recognition of foreign students' alphabetic words,including the reasons,purpose,selection of alphabetic words and the design of the questionnaire.The second part mainly analyzes the students' recognition of alphabetic words according to the data of the questionnaire,and analyzes the factors that affect the students' understanding of alphabetic words from the aspects of their Chinese level and their mastery of English,their interest in alphabetic words and their attitude towards them.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the application of alphabetic words in cross-cultural communication according to the application of alphabetic words in cross-cultural communication,and explains some problems that may appear in cross-cultural communication and some matters that should be paid attention to when using alphabetical word communication.
