A Study On Jiangzhou In Song Dynasty

As a XiongZhou(??)in Song dynasty,Jiangzhou comprises 7 counties,its scope approximately quite same with the areas of XinJiang county,Jishan county,Jiang county,Yuanqu county,Quwo county,Houma county,Yicheng county and two towns of Xiangfen county of Shanxi province.Backed by Hedong in the north and adjoined Yongxingjun in the South,Jiangzhou is very outstanding and important in its geographical location.Jiangzhou is located in the southernmost area of Hedong,where is far from the wars,so it has a stable political environment compared with other areas,its soil is more fertiler,its irrigated facilities are more convenient,so Jiangzhou plays a very important role in supporting the national defense and relieving the disaster in Song dynasty because it's the leading producer of food with its relatively developed agriculture in Hedong.Jiangzhou was centuried since it was setted up in the second year(558)of Ming emperor in the North Zhou dynasty.Jiangzhou is the most populous region with its mass population.Jiangzhou with rich resources such as copper,iron,coal is located in the junction of Shanxi,Shaanxi and Henan,and it also nears the Yellow river and Fenhe river,so the trades and business are prevailing,more and more people is engaged in commercial activities,which makes the business become more thriving,so the government also attaches great importance to the official selection and appointment of Jiangzhou.Jiangzhou was demanded to send sheep and horses to the royal court every year in the Northern Song dynasty,it makes it clear that Jiangzhou was the supplier of horses and mutton sheep to the nation.The culture and education of Jiangzhou is also flourishing,the temples of Confucious were rebuilt and maintained constantly,the atmosphere of learning and educating is also very strong.In addition,the Buddhism of Jiangzhou recovers quickly and gets new development in Song dynasty,and the regional god faith of local temples is also thriving with a lot of species.However,the plain and simple folkway in Jiangzhou is increasingly fading away and replacing by extravagance with the development of commerce.At last,Jiangzhou also plays an important and positive role in its self-defense war against the intruder.
