The Study About Shang Tang Faith And Its Social Function In Yangcheng County

"Shang Tang prays for rain in mulberry” successfully makes the Shang Tang and Yangcheng mulberry integration as a whole,which makes Shang Tang tranform a saint king to the local rain god.Then,Shang Tang as the rain god continued to spread in Yangcheng and even the southeast of Shanxi Province,leaving a large number of temples and inscriptions.Based on these materials,we have gotten rich acheivement about the relationship between the rain and the Yangcheng Shang Tang,Tang belief in Yangcheng communication,ritual ceremonies,temples and other aspects.Behind the prosperity of Tang faith is the closely relation to it and the life of people,and he has penetrated into all aspects of society,so it is necessary to understand his social impact.Based on the analysis of the inscriptions of Shang Tang 's belief,this paper discusses the rise of Shang Tang as the rain god in Yangcheng,and the development of the scope of the spread,the construction of the temple,the function of the gods,and the analysis of its impact of local human life.Through the analysis,Yangcheng formed the Shang Tang culture,including the culture of faith,myths and legends,monuments and other elements of the site.Tang faith provides a spiritual sustenance for the local people.People in the face of suffering gets the spiritual comfort.On the other hand,in the development process,excessive worship for Tang faith led to the prevalence of luxury,which brought local people great pressure.So Tang faith has positive and negative effects.
