Research On The Custom Of Praying For Rain In Liaocheng Area In Modern Times

In modern China,traditional agricultural production is the main way for people to survive.In the years of social unrest and unheeding drought,the rain-harvesting activities are an important means of agricultural disaster relife.In the rapid development of science and technology in contemporary society,the custom of praying for rain is actually a kind of public superstition activity,but it lasted for thousands of years in the feudal society.For this reason,this text takes the modern Liaocheng district as an example,using the history books,local chronicles and other materials to analyze and discuss the custom of praying for rain in the region.Specifically,this article discusses from the following five parts.The first part is "introduction".Mainly introduces the significance of the thesis topic selection and research status at home and abroad,research methods and so on.The second part to the fifth part is the main body of the thesis,which consists of the first,second,third and fourth chapters.The first chapter is "the general situation of liaocheng district in modern times".This paper mainly introduces the history,geographical environment and meteorological disasters in the modern Liaocheng disteict.It is concluded that the high frequency and the wide range of drought are the primary disasters that affect the agricultural development in Liaocheng.The second chapter is "the practice of rain-praying in liaocheng district in modern times." This chapter describes the objects of praying for rain and the method of praying for rain in the modern rain-praying activities in Liaocheng.This chapter mainly focuses on five typical rain objects,such as Dragon king,Three officials God,Mountains and rivers,Guan Yu and Xie Xu,as well as sacrificial rites,rain and mountains,official praying for rain,welcome meeting,filial prayers,holy water praying for rain,Widows pray for rain and other methods for rain discussed in detail.The third chapter is "the custom reason and characteristic of praying for rain in modern Liaocheng district".The author mainly analyzes the reason why the custom of praying for rain in modern Liaocheng is prevailing through the traditional methods of agricultural production and the government,and analyzes the diversity,inheritance and personalization of praying for rain.The fourth chapter is "the custom of rain-praying in modern Liaocheng district".It mainly analyzes and concludes the prayer custom of rain from the aspects of the universality and pluralism of deity's belief and the function of praying for rain custom.
