This report is based on the translation of Education: the Basics which has seven chapters.It is an educational work in which the author Kay Wood discussed some key issues on educational purpose,equal access to education,teaching and learning methods,and the assessment to teachers and students,.etc.When translating this work,the author encountered some problems which include how to avoid the semantic ambiguity and ensure the correctness and completeness of target text's information? How to solve the problem in face of the differences between Chinese and English sentence structure? How to deal with the potential logic in English colon and semicolon? To solve the problems above,which translation strategies could be adopted? Some solutions are put forward in this report.This report is composed of four chapters.In the first chapter,the author's information and the general content of the work is briefly introduced.The second chapter is a description of the translation process.Chapter three is an essential part of this report.In this part,some translation issues are discussed and the corresponding solutions are put forward.It includes semantic addition,semantic extension,and the reinvention of sentence structure.The solutions on the English punctuation such as colon and semicolon are also discussed.The forth chapter is a conclusion of the translation task.
