Study On The Change Of Party Politics In 1995 Tanzania General Election

Nowadays,political party has been the core origination of modern country.The cold war's ending claimed that Western countries began to use “democracy aid” to change Sub-African countries political party system from one-party system to multi-party system,and Tanzania was no exception.“Democracy aid” was the direct reason for the transition.The basic reason why Tanzania had to change its party politics was the critical economic crisis.Moreover,the corrupted bureaucracy and so called Neo-traditionalism force CCM,the ruling party of Tanzania,to reconsider and reform its party politics.However,the tense atmosphere between Mainland and Zanzibar was the biggest problem during the period of transition.Tanzania 1995 election was the first election after Tanzania had changed its political party system from one-party system to multi-party system.As for the transition,Tanzania government established the Nyalali Commission and National Electoral Commission.The former one had legislative suggestions independently,and the latter one had supervisory jurisdiction.CCM won the election by its strong political capital and economic strength.However,CCM couldn't have had done such achievement without the great foresight of its leadership.They turned the crisis into opportunity by combing Tanzania own unique national conditions with the party politics.And through the suitable election laws,which gave the opposition party relative political liberty,CCM consolidated its political position during the transition.One party dominant and other parties took part in was the remarkable feature of Tanzania new model of party politics.Not only did Tanzania combined traditional political culture,the new model of party politics also borrow some idea from Nordic Countries and some African countries.The new model had settle a strong political basis in the new period of social economic development.Then,as now,the new model of party politics in Tanzania was recognized by more and more people in both Sub-African and other countries.
