Analysis On The Settlement And Cultural Structure Of Taosi Site

Represented by Taosi site,the Taosi culture can be divided into three periods,including early,middle and late.This paper,based on the fully use of the published archaeological materials and the reference of previous research achievements,analyzes the settlement structure and cultural factors in three different periods to further discuss the problem of alteration of population.In the part study of the settlement structure of the Taosi culture,compared to the early period the middle period changed a lot.It not only greatly expanded the scope of the site,but also established many new functional areas,such as the sacrifice area,the workshop area of the handicraft industry and other areas in the middle period.The location of the mausoleum area had also been changed.The late Taosi culture,compared with the middle period,had also changed a lot that it not only abandoned some important buildings of the early and middle period,but changed the location of burial distribution.In terms of cultural factors,the changes between the early and middle period of the Taosi culture were very large.There emerged many new artifacts,such as Li pot,Tao Yan,etc.which gradually became the main cookers of the inhabitants in that site.Compared to the middle period,the cultural changes of the late period was notobvious.The late artifacts were basically inherited and developed on the basis of the early and middle period.Through comprehensive comparison of the three periods,it can be seen that between the early and middle period of the Taosi site there certainly had the alteration of population,and between the middle and late period only the population of top nobility had changed.
