In people's traditional understanding,"sex" is only used to distinguish the physiological characteristics of men and women, does not have any other meaning. However, with the development of various theories, the sociality of gender has been discovered. In the colonial society, the homogeneity of gender and race led people to change the traditional concept of gender, and closely related to gender, history, power and discourse. In Africa,Western countries feminized the colonies, and popularized Rutgers centrism which is known as Western and male-centered.As the result, they have the absolute power in the relationship between with the colonies. As a white female writer who has been fighting alongside the people of South Africa,Gordimer deconstructs the gender construction of the colonial narrative in his works, firmly supports the revolutionary movement of the South African people, and actively explores the relationship between the national and gender under the new historical conditions.Aiming at studying the gender construction of the post-colonial creation under the historical background of Gordimer's creation, this paper choose three novels: The People of July,My Son's Story and Unaccompanied Me as examples. This paper consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction part puts forward the problems and significance of this paper through summarizing the research status of Gordimer's works at home and abroad. The first chapter discusses the relationship between colonial and gender, and explores the similarity between gender relations and the power operation mechanism of colonialists. It is the basic theory of this article. The second chapter concentrates on the analysis of different character images within three novels.Gordimer deconstructs the control of Colonial discourse over gender image in the process of constructing the black female identity, disintegrating the white male identity and questioning the identity of the black males. The third chapter discusses how Gordimer make further efforts to deconstruct space—gender metaphor in Colonial discourse in his works. The fourth chapter,by means of the construction of sisterhood, racial transcendenceand participation in the revolution to obtain self-identity,discusses Gondimer's inquiring into how the South African society can get rid of the lonely state, resolve the dilemma of subjectivity and harmonious coexistence of nationality and gender culture. As the summary of this paper, the conclusion part emphasize the practical meaning of Gordimer's works. The national and gender character in his works has made it a unique and classic position in the contemporary world of English literature.
