Degree adverbs are frequently used to express degree, which are used widely and frequently with a relatively low number.Foreign learners acquire degree adverbs with a lot of difficulty, and often make some mistakes in grammar and expression when put them into practice. Therefore, this thesis classifies the frequently-used degree adverbs collected from Chinese Interlanguage corpus, and applies Interlanguage Theory and Error Theory to describe and explain the reason of error.Based on the reasons of the errors, this thesis comes up with the following teaching strategies:situational teaching method, comparative teaching method and remedial teaching method. This thesis is divided into five chapters.Chapter one is an introduction that shows significance of the thesis, previous studies on degree adverbs, basic theory, and research method.Nowadays, there are so many achievements on degree adverbs from the perspective of error analysis of degree adverb by learners from different countries. However, they are still not universal. That is why studies on error analysis of degree adverb are presented in this thesis. The research object of the thesis is foreigner learners who speaking English and the research content of this paper is 34 degree adverbs selected from Chinese Proficiency Level Standards and Grammar Outline. The research method of this paper is to collect errors made by foreign learners.Chapter two based on the Interlanguage Theory and Error Theory analyzes the errors of degree adverbs, including omission, addition, overrepresentation, and disordering. The thesis comprehensively analyzes examples of mistakes in using degree adverbs in the Chinese Interlanguage Corpus based on ontology and teaching research results.Various reasons for errors are concluded in combination with explanation in Chinese teaching materials and reference books.By analyzing degree adverbs with similar meaning and foreign learners used degree verbs to modify adjectives, verbs, and etc.,semantic feature, syntax rules and pragmatic strategy of degree adverb are clearly presented, and foreign learners can discover those rules and put them into practice directly.Chapter three based on the research achievements,we found that due to negative transfer caused by native language, the influence of the target language, teaching material, and so on,foreign learners are easy to make mistakes by using degree adverbs.Chapter four discusses teaching strategies. This chapter aims at solving problems about the errors of degree adverbs.Based on the previous studies, some suggestions are presented as follows: first of all,we can correct errors to the proper extreme;secondly,we can compare degree adverb with other words;thirdly,we can practice the teaching of degree adverb in special situation.Chapter five is a conclusion of the whole paper.By the error analysis of degree adverb, the paper makes a conclusion as follows: firstly, the frequency of using degree adverb by speaking-English learners is not balanced.A Part of degree adverbs is used frequently, and a part of degree adverbs, such as “po” and “jidu” is used infrequently. The errors can be divided into four categories: omission, addition, overrepresentation and disordering,of which omission appeared most frequently, and disordering appeared infrequently.A great number of errors can be found, when speaking-English learners use degree adverbs such as “hen”,“hai”,“gen”,etc..Negative transfer of native language and the excessive analogy of the target language are the reasons that cause errors of degree adverbs.
