Study On Wayfinding Signage Systems Of Exposition

With the rising international status and increasing regional influence in recent years,more and more large exhibitions choose China as the host.Holding large exhibitions is a symbol of the prosperity and civilization of a country,which can bring worldwide focus to the host city and make it become a center for world civilization exchanges.Thus,all-round development of politics,economy and culture will be effectively promoted.As a media for communications between people and space,the wayfinding system of large exhibitions plays a significant role.Its design and settings can define orientation,prompt messages and guide itineraries for target audience like visitors,exhibitors as well as operation directors,which is an essential guarantee for secure,convenient and harmonious operation of exhibitions.The wayfinding system in China started later than European and American developed countries and its theoretical practice is not mature,which is extremely inconsistent with the soaring enthusiasm for holding large exhibitions in our country.Therefore,researches on such aspects need to be strengthened.A thorough study on the wayfinding system can not only provide powerful guarantee for successful host of large exhibitions,but also popularize its beneficial experience to the whole society,thus advancing the overall level of wayfinding design in China.The wayfinding system is an important infrastructure in large exhibitions.Its design mainly includes two parts: One is vector design and the other is visual element design.First of all,the mderling design,dimensional design and point position design of the wayfinding system are the key factors determining artistic quality and scientific normatirity of the wayfinding system.Next,the visual elements include graphics,characters,colors and format.Among the four elements,graphics and characters are the core elements.2016 Taking Tangshan World Horticultural Expositio as real example,it vertifies the indispensable role the wayfinding system plays.Through analyzing artistic designs of different renues,this paper summarizes the methods and principles of rector design and visual element design.
