In the study of traditional proverb, metaphor is considered as a rhetoric means. With the development of cognitive linguistics, metaphor is regarded as a cognitive means too.It has become the way of human experience world, the human thinking and way of life.Lakoff and Johnson see it as "the metaphor of our survival."Proverbs are the collections of vivid language that often appear in people's daily communications. However, people do not realize that these proverbs use metaphorical thinking. In the metaphor framework of Lakoff and Johnson, the source domain and target domain of Chinese and Uighur language's proverbs are associated with people and people's behaviors, which expressed people's emotion by using the similarity of people and the source domain proverbs. This study makes a contrastive study about the similarities and differences of metaphorical meaning in the source domain image between Chinese language and Uighur language in the perspective of conceptual metaphor. The results show that:(i)Conceptual metaphor is universal. It is feasible to apply the conceptual metaphor to the studies of Chinese and Uighur languages proverbs;(ii)Source domains of Chinese and Uighur languages are basically same because of their physical characteristics. So the understandings of source domains are similar too.But the metaphorical meanings of target domain from Chinese and Uighur languages are not fully compatible in most cases;(iii)The similarities and differences of proverbs reflect differences of cognitive style and cultural values between the Han and Uighur peoples.
