A Report On The Translation Of About Translation(Chapter 2-3)

This report is based on the translation of the second and third chapter of About Translation,a masterpiece on translation theory and practice by Peter Newmark.It covers different aspects of translation and contains a wealth of examples based on Newmark's personal translation practice,thus making it stand out from those similar books and become a book of authority.Besides,Peter Newmark proposed semantic translation and communicative translation,which had a great impact on translation studies.This report consists of five parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to the background information of the project.The second part includes an introduction to ST and the writer.The third part is mainly about the translation process of the source text.The fourth part is featured by the difficulties and the techniques used in translating the text.The fifth part is a summary of this project.
