A Translation Report On About Translation

In order to meet translators and translation students' needs on translation theory,About Translation,a paper collection of Peter Newmark,is selected and translated under the guidance of his semantic and communicative translation theory.By applying translation theory to practice and writing translation report,the translator tries to gain a further understanding on Newmark's theory and probe into its value on guiding translation.The report consists of five chapters,including the introduction,preparation,introduction on translation theory,process analysis and conclusion.The report introduces the SL text and Newmark's semantic and communicative translation,and analyzes the process under the framework of four levels(textual level,referential level,cohesive level and level of naturalness)raised by Newmark.By analyzing the translation process,the report gives a brief illustration on the translation process under the guidance of Newmark's semantic and communicative translation theory.
