Nowadays,with the integration of international trade pushed ahead,Chinese porcelain products become more and more popular in the international market.However,the translations of porcelain products are deficient in providing the customer with detailed information about products and in promoting porcelain products to the international market.One reason for this phenomenon is that translations fail to meet the reading expectations and to measure up to the cultural background of foreign customers due to the great differences in thinking pattern and writing style between Chinese translators and English native speakers.The other reason is that translators always fail to fulfill the function of the source text because they cannot get a full understanding of the source text.Under this context,the author firstly compares the extra-textual and intra-textual factors of the two kinds of texts to establish a referential framework,with which the author applies the functionalist theory to evaluate several translation samples to explore their problems and proposes the corresponding strategies.
