The thesis studies the mutual-influence,interaction and inter dependence between the monasteries and the Tibetan tribes by exploring the Pa Bang Tangkuo in Reting Monastery,a festival that was held every 12 years.Different from the nomadic tribes or migratory tribes that usually discussed,the 12 tribes is the combination of agricultural civilization and nomadic civilization.Formed around Reting Monastery,the tribes are fixed tribes that are specifically dedicated to work for the Reting Ladrang.They have unique operating mechanism and an organizational structure,which is convenient for the commodity trading,intermarriage and exchange of farming and husbandry products within the tribes.Buddhism Festivals,attended by both the masses and the monks,and by which the tribes gather in monasteries,have their own unique mythological basis and interpretation,rituals and activities.Through the introductory point of the Reting Monastery and 12 Reting tribes,the vertically analysis of historical development of the monastery and the 12 Reting tribes,and horizontally analysis of the Tibetan Buddhism activities as the main line,the thesis studies the Pa Bang Tangkuo where 12 tribes gather,and meanwhile,tries to research the influence of interactive relationship between the monastery and the 12 tribes on regional culture,economy and social life.The first chapter is the introduction to the significance of the topic,the relevant studies and research methods,etc.The second chapter is the general introduction of the historical development and current situation of the Reting monastery and the 12 Reting tribes.It firstly introduces the basic situation of the Reting monastery,including the origin and construction of the Reting monastery,previous Reting Rinposhe and Khenpo,and nun monastery that built by Tsongkhapa.Secondly,through the method such as anthropological fieldwork and case interview,this chapter introduces the development and current situation of the 12 Reting tribes.The third chapter focuses on the formation and development of Tibetan Buddhism festivals,as well as their cultural and social functions through the analysis point of historical development of.The fourth chapter is the focus of this thesis,mainly introduces the interactive relation between the monastery and the tribes during the festivals.And to further interpret the between the two,this chapter also explores the interdependence,interaction,mutual-benefit between them.The fifth chapter proposes the hidden problems existing in Tibetan Buddhism and Buddhism festivals,and the factors affecting the development of Tibetan Buddhism.Thus,the author can put forward the countermeasures and opinion towards the development of Tibetan Buddhism,on the intention of contributing ideas and exerting efforts for Tibetan Buddhism's well-adoption in the new socialist society.
