Children literature,as one of the most important branches,is closely related to education for children,which effectively plays a significant and irreplaceable role in developing children’s ethics,cognitive competence,as well as creative thinking.Since the end of last century,the translation and publication of children’s literature has been increasing rapidly.Nevertheless,with the flourishing of it,various problems and phenomena have appeared,such as repetitively translated versions towards same works,categories with varying quality and roughly translated production.Compared with other literary subjects,studying on translation of children’s literature still faces the problem of great inadequacy and needs to be enhanced with more resources and efforts.To have a better understanding of such problems,we have chosen and translated some parts from The Fourteenth Goldfish created by an American writer of children’s literature Jennifer L.Holm.During the process of translation,we realized the guiding value of the Reception Aesthetics Theory which holds that the reader,reader’s reading process and reader’s own understanding means a lot to literary works.I have employed distinct translation techniques,such as including colloquial,vivid,deblurring and simplified expression,and repetitively polished my translation aiming to enable this particular reader group to sense different aesthetic effects.It can be concluded that we ought to proceed from the theory of Reception Aesthetics to hone the skills of translating children’s literary works,and then acquire the best-translated works to allow readers experience fantastic reading.
