Vocabulary teaching is an important part in teaching Chinese to speakers of other language.In Chinese vocabulary,the adverbs occupy a significant position.For the beginners,the translation and interpretation in English is the primary means for them to learn L2 Chinese.Therefore,it is very important to carry out the translation and interpretation of the vocabulary in English in the whole mandarin teaching and textbooks compilation.Accurate translation and interpretation in English can help the learners understand the meanings and usages of the adverbs,reduce the errors of adverbs in use,and improve the efficiency of L2 Chinese learning.The thesis,through summarizing and analyzing of the items of translation and interpretation of adverbs in English from three sets of mandarin teaching books,combined with some relevant pragmatic translation theories,and proposed the two principles of the translation and interpretation of adverb: one is “xin”(semantic accuracy),and the other is “qie”(pragmatic appropriateness).At the same time,it summed up some problems of the translation and interpretation of adverbs existing in L2 Chinese textbooks.Such as the translation and interpretation which is out of the context;wordy,with the pragmatic view,it can be omitted;without taking the applicable occasions of adverbs into account well;the translation item does not match with the meaning of the word;as well as there are too many interpretation items,part of them are independent with the text and easy to cause some disturbances.At last,according to the problems and the analysis of the specific cases,we presented some suggestions and methods from the point of the translators and the translation text respectively,hoping to do a certain contribution to the translation and interpretation of adverb and the preparation of the mandarin teaching books.
