Study On The Relation Of Social Support, Psychological Stress, And Life Satisfaction For The Main Caregivers Of Autistic Children

Autistic children show serious obstacles in social interaction,communication,and behavior,and they have obvious differences in all aspects of social life.They need long-term rehabilitation training to integrate into the society and cultivate their independence.This brings a huge economic burden and heavy psychological pressure for their family,and also need more social support.Some studies have shown that social support can reduce individual psychological pressure,and improve the level of life satisfaction.However,the relation of social support on life satisfaction and psychological pressure for the primary caregivers with autistic children is not clear.Therefore,we investigate the status of psychological stress,life satisfaction and social support for primary caregivers with autistic children,and explore the social support relation on their mental stress and life satisfaction in present study.We selected 138 autistic children caregivers from Chongqing Leyi fusion kindergarten,Chongqing Liren special schools,rehabilitation training center of Chongqing Normal University and Chongqing Medical University Affiliated Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Center randomly,and use social support rating scale,psychological stress questionnaire and life satisfaction index questionnaire to explore the correlation of social support on their psychological stress and life satisfaction.Results showed:(1)Psychological stress.The higher degree of autistic children,their primary caregivers experience more psychological pressure in aspects of individuals and families,life care,but the psychological pressure of main caregivers with autism tendency's children is relatively large.The higher the social and economic status,such as business and civil servants?teacher and medical staff,they experience the personal and family,economic burden of psychological stress and total score is smaller.The higher the annual income of the family,the economic burden of their experience,lifelong care of the psychological pressure and total score were smaller.The higher the degree of education,they experience the economic burden and the total score of the psychological pressure were smaller.The mothers and fathers of children with autism,and primary caregiver for different age in children with autistic disorder had no significant differences in psychological pressure.These results indicate that the experienced psychological pressure of main caregivers of autistic children show differences in degree of autistic children,social and economic status,annual household income,degree of education.(2)Life satisfaction.Overall,the main caregivers of autistic children's life satisfaction is generally low.Primary caregivers' life satisfaction in farmers,workers and full-time at home to look after the children was significantly lower than that free professional caregivers in business.The life satisfaction in workers and full-time in their home to look after the children's was significantly lower than that of the main caregivers of civil servants?teacher and medical staff.The main caregivers of junior middle school and the life satisfaction was significantly lower than that of of undergraduate senior high school or technical secondary school and university.Autistic disorder children's father and mother,different autistic children and different age,annual household income of the main caregivers,life satisfaction has no significant difference.These results show that the life satisfaction of main caregivers of autistic children is affected by different types of occupation and degree of education.(3)Social support.Main caregivers of children with tendency to autism experience the objective support was significantly lower than that in the mild autistic children with disease and moderate autistic disorder children caregivers.The total score of objective support and social support in fathers was significantly higher than that in mothers.The higher the family annual income,the higher the total score of subjective support,objective support and social support.The higher the degree of education,the higher the total score of objective support and social support.The main caregivers of autistic children of different age and occupation has no significant difference in social support.These results suggest that the experienced social support of main caregivers of autistic children is affected by degree of autistic children,role of caregiver,degree of education.(4)The total score of life satisfaction were positively related to social support and its each factor.Psychological stress scores were negatively correlated with each factor and the total score of social support for autistic disorder children caregivers.There were a significant negative correlation between dimensions of psychological stress and dimensions of social support.There were significant negative correlation between lifelong care of psychological pressure and the total score of social support and subjective support,the utilization of support.These results suggest that the social support for main caregivers of autistic children can relate to their life satisfaction and psychological stress.In summary,there are some differences in different types of primary caregivers with autistic children.Importantly,this study suggest that social support can reduce psychology pressure,and enhance life satisfaction for primary caregivers with autistic children.Finally,we offers some suggestions supervise and urge the implementation of laws and regulations,increase economic support,and create a social environment,open up the channels of resource about how to reduce the autistic disorder in children with primary caregiver psychological pressure,improve their life satisfaction.
