A Report On The Translation Of Project Execution Plan--FPSO

This report is based on the author's practice of translation on a Project Execution Plan--FPSO(Floating,Production,Storage and Offloading)excerpted from an internal document of a leading oil company in China.This translating file covers almost all aspects related to FPSO,like project management,control,safety,environmental protection,certification,procurement,fabrication,commissioning,installation,maintenance etc.The execution plan features both scientific and technological style and formal business documentary style.Besides,the cross-disciplinary characteristic is showed apparently in this project.Considering all the features above,the author conducts the translating work under the theoretical guidance of “Skopos Theory”of Vermeer.In addition,in terms of the problems the translator met during the translating process,appropriate analytic methods and translating strategies are applied so as to help solve the problems.All these aim to produce a clear,concise and more convincing translation script for the targeted reader,namely,petroleum industry professionals.Finally,a translating report was produced on the basis of translating work.This translation report mainly consists of four parts,namely,task description,process description,case analysis,and conclusion.Each part can be divided into several subtitles.This translation report is expected to serve as a supplementary material for FPSO-related documents inside the oil industry,especially for those written in foreign languages.
