A Cross-cultural Study Of The Theme Of American Doomsday Movies And Their Absence In China

Every two or three years,a doomsday movie appears in American Hollywood movies.Americans tend to believe deep in their hearts that everything including the world and lives will come to an end.However,we have never seen any Chinese production of doomsday movies.The attitudes the two nations take towards doomsday movies reflect their different views of life and death.How do the audiences of the two different nations under the influence of their own religious backgrounds and philosophies view the world and the belief of the end of the world? This thesis intends to find the reasons behind this phenomenon in the perspective of religion,history,and culture,and the two peoples' different views of life and death.
