Consecutive interpretation is one of the most widely used types of interpretation.During the consecutive interpretation, information is delivered through sounds, and a logical and coherent discourse is reflected on the phonology system.Whether the interpretation is acceptable to audiences largely depends on how the interpreter delivers the speech. As a critical part in information delivery, phonology also contributes to coherence as vocabulary and grammar do.Therefore, the significance of phonology in consecutive interpretation shouldn't be ignored. The thesis aims at analyzing the coherent function of phonology and how to achieve the phonological coherence in consecutive interpretation in the perspective of coherence theory. The thesis analyzed consecutive interpretation records and videos in different occasions in terms of intonation, stress, rhythm and other phonological elements to figure out how they act on the interpreter's comprehension and their role in coherence, including the coherence sense group division, texture structure, illocutionary act and tone patterns. The thesis also discusses how to produce an interpretation in accordance with the language code, acceptable to listeners and fulfilling the communication goal,as well as how to keep the beauty of the original language with fidelity and fluency.
