The Carmen Fantasy For Two Pianos,based on the themes of opera Carmen by Georges Bizet,is an adapted work by talented American pianist Greg Anderson.This work mainly adapts the Haban era and Gypsy dance of the opera Carmen to emphasize and develop the meaning of the original w ork.George Bizet,the composer,refreshes the well-known opera with his outstanding and unique composing skills.Featuring the musical characteristics of the Gypsy community,the tremendous s ound effects of two-pianos and the amazing changes in the tempo and speed of,Carmen Fantasy has highly artistic value both on music and on drama.The analysis of Carmen Fantasy focuses on its two aspects.Firstly,this thesis discusses the distin guished artistic features,including the background,comparison,structures,variation,etc.to disclo sure the profound meaning of the adapted work.Secondly,the analysis on its performance,especi ally the techniques and collaboration of the two player,will help us to understand the musical emo tion deeper.Furthermore,due to the lack of the related references of Carmen Fantasy,the author's researches are more about the two-piano performances.The author feels the irresistible appeal of the opera Carmen through this research,hoping this thesi s could play a small but strong part in the development of Dou-piano. |
