The social networking sites(SNSs)as one of the most rapidly developed applications of the Internet have become prominent in young peoples' lives.At present,SNSs have a large number of college students.The previous research shows that the use of SNSs and college students' personality factors and social psychology has an important relationship.Previous studies only used the total time spent on SNS to simply measure the activity on this SNS.Taking into account SNSs such as sending information,update status,online games and other activities,the use of SNS on the different functions may be personality differences.Therefore,the study of the relationship between personality factors and the use of specific function of SNS will provide a deeper understanding of the relationship on them.In addition,the use of SNSs has a potential impact on College Students' social psychology.At present,there is little research on the impact of the use of SNSs' different functions on the social psychology.Few studies have examined the mechanism of the use of SNSs and individual social psychology.Therefore,through the investigation and analysis of the use of SNSs' different functions and the existence of mental health and mediation mechanisms may exist,will extend the previous study.Based on the previous research,this study designed two studies: the study of the impact of the use of SNS to explore the use of SNS and the relationship between college students' personality variables.The use of SNS scale,big five personality scale,Rosenberg self-esteem scale,narcissistic personality scale,seeking stimulus scale for 265 college students to conduct a questionnaire survey.Study on the use of SNS to use the consequences of variables to explore the use of SNS on the friendship quality of college students and mental health effects.The use of SNS scale,online self-disclosure scale,adolescent social anxiety scale,friendship quality scale,life satisfaction scale was used to investigate 402 college students.On the basis of questionnaire survey and data analysis,the following conclusions are drawn from the research results:(1)Extraverts are more likely to use SNS to communicate features,including updates,comments and add more friends.Neurotic are more likely to perform state updates and use this as a way of expressing themselves.Individuals who are pleasant tend to make more comments under someone else's post.People with high self-esteem are more likely to comment on others' posts.People with high openness and seeking excitement are more likely to play online games on SNS.Narcissistic users are more likely to upload their good-looking photos to SNS and tend to update their status more frequently for self-presentation.Gender plays an important role in predicting what type of SNS to use: Men have more friends than women on SNS and are more likely to play online games;women are more likely to upload their own photos and updates than men.(2)The use of "social" type SNS and mental health is positively correlated,"entertainment" type SNS use is not.The use of "social" type SNS is negatively correlated with online self-disclosure.Online self-disclosure is a significant predictor of friendship quality.There is no relationship between friendship quality use and mental health based on SNS.This study explores the influence factors and consequence variables of the use of SNSs.This study deepens previous research and enriches the research results about the use of SNSs,which can help to clarify the thinking of the research field and provide some reference for the follow-up research.It can also provide theoretical basis for Internet company' design of SNSs and college students' mental health education.
