Dilemma And Hope Of One Dimensional Advanced Industrial Society

From 20 th century,with the high development of science and technology,the human society had changed a lot.And these changes had also effected the relationship between people with people,people with society,and people with nature.“ Science and technology constitute the primary productive force” had become a mainstream concept in the academia.So,how could we look on the function and influence of science and technology upon human civilization development? Marcuse is a philosopher with the sense of historical responsibility.He started from the current situation of the developed industrial society of capitalism by inherited and developed predecessor's theory informed his own critical ideology.Based on science and technology,he analyzed the essence of technology and many influences upon society.He pointed out that science and technology had become an accomplice who helped the rulers enslave the public.This situation had lead a total alienation of the industrial society of capitalism.No matter technology,culture,labour,consumption,people and nature all of them had been alienated severely.The society and people had become one-dimension.In order to liberate people from this repressive environment,Marcuse had come forward the conception of non-repressive civilization.He advocated to liberate human by liberating eros.Meanwhile,he raised two conception of “new technology” and ”new nature”.He wish “new technology” could replace the old technology for helping liberate human being and improving the relation between human and nature.Marcuse's criticism of advanced industrial society revealed the negativity of science and technology.It showed that tech should be the assistance of liberating and developing of human.Although from the view of modern society,his theory had some limitations,the process of his arguments had indicate something's rising like greenism.All these has proved that retrospect his thoughts is very meaningful.
