A Study On The Language Of Soft Materials In Mixed Media

Mixed Media has been common in international art exhibitions.It breaks the creating norms in terms of traditional art and explores material itself,which shows that people’s visual experience,visual perception and aesthetic sense have been changing,and also is the inevitable result of pursuing performance depth and spiritual orientation of both the author and viewers.After sorting out documents related to mixed media,the author finds that the the more books and articles concern the comparison of soft and hard creating material in just one chapter and the less deeply explore soft material as an important language in mixed media.This thesis commences with the study on soft material language in mixed media and draws public attention on soft material,and further observes the development of mixed media from the perspective of soft material and arranges the theory and analyzes it with a case study,providing basis and platform for creators.Besides,it is necessary to emphasize that discussing soft material in mixed media mainly studies time in modern art creation and the focus is not traditional painting’s creating tools,materials and expression style.Otherwise,if speaking of traditional media in oil painting and traditional Chinese painting or toner in sketch works,this study is a paradox.At home,soft material is widely applied in mixed media.Many artists,like Shang Yang,Liang Quan,Guan Ce,Xu Lei,experiment comprehensively on their own works and create excellent works.However,comparing with foreign countries,soft material application to domestic mixed media lacks diversified models and stylish exploration,what’s more,soft material has a complex classification and insufficient study and arrangement.The exhibition works have contemporary problems.After short visual impact,what relationship exists in works and creator’s present life,and whether they are devoured by material or the form of material,all of these should be aware of and reflected.The present artistic creation develops while integrating into various arts,and various must discuss and explore material application,so mixed media isn’t an exception.Soft material application to mixed media is very extensive,and analyzing soft material language in mixed media indicates that different soft material has different feature,color,quality and unique language.In this case,it’s required that author deeply touch,feel and understand soft material and then choose and apply it with his own experience and emotions not simple “creating” or simulating others.The material classes in colleges give students opportunities to undergo creating around material.While creating,students should combine Chinese and Western after deeply understanding the development of Chinese art,unfetter the bounds of their own profession,search for material suitable for themselves,conduct feasibility experiment,give full play to the imagination,obtain spirits from outside with open minds and understand the practicability of material through experiment.With the constant development of the society and technology,more and more varied soft material will emerge and become media in artists’ creations.By persistent attempting and accumulating experience,we can the bright prospect of soft material in mixed media.I believe that mixed media will have a stronger represent ability and more rich contents reaching a real balance between the art form and artists’ ideas of mixed media.
