The Study On Zheng's Family Lived In The Village Of Banpu In Eastern Zhejiang Province During Ming And Qing Dynasties

The Zheng's family,lived in the village of Banpu,is one of the aristocratic families in eastern Zhejiang Province during Ming and Qing Dynasties.Most of the previous studies focus on the collection culture and there is still a lack of systematic study about the whole family.Based on ancient works such as Cixi County Annals compiled during the reign of Guangxu,Zheng's Genealogy compiled in the Republic of China and manuscripts written by family members,this paper studied individually from the origin of family,the imperial examinations,making friends,marriage,business and analysed the causes of the vicissitudes of the Zheng's family.The first chapter: study the origin of Zheng's family.According to field investigation,using of the genealogy and related information,analyzing different point about the origin of Zheng's family and identifying the point that Zhengyu was the ancestor of the main vein of the family.At the same time,researching origin of other housing systems,formating family system frame structure with outstanding figures and carding family branch veins during Ming and Qing Dynasties.The second chapter: study the imperial examination of Zheng's family.Sorting out the number of Jinshi,Juren,tribute student,county student and skillful writer,explaining the contribution of every stratum in family and researching the prosperity of family's imperial examination.The reasons of it may as follows:family rules' power,the family tradition of advocate education and the influence of Cicheng's culture.The third chapter: study the activities of making friends in Zheng's family.During researches on three outstanding figures—Zhengman,Zhengliang and Zhengxun,Sorting out their communication network in order to deepen the cognition of personality thought and communication characteristics.At the same time,analyzing the advantages and limitations of family's communication,which can help us to summarize the historical destiny of the Zheng's family in five hundred years.The fourth chapter: study the marriage of Zheng's family.The family entered the ranks of bureaucrat bureaucrats at the beginning of Ming Dynasty,which have great affect on members' marriage orientation.Just like focus on official sources,prefer cultural family and break regional restrictions.On one hand,marriage network expanded family's foundation strongly,on the other hand,because of the conflicts caused by marriage,the family suffer from disaster for a long time.The fifth chapter: study the business of Zheng's family.The businessmen of the family did well in Chinese traditional medicine trade and old-style Chinese private bank after the periods of Kangxi.They regarded higher status and honors as their greatest goal because of the influence of the tradition of advocate education and patriarchal concept.So they donated officer,made charitable,made academic work and believed in integrity in order to become official businessmen,knowledge-based businessmen and righteous businessmen.The sixth chapter: analyze the decline reasons of Zheng's family.The family gradual alignment decline in the late Qing Dynasty.The main reasons accounted for this phenomenon were population expansion,traffic change,the short of restraint on regulations and the pressure from other families.Particularly,the Taiping Army attacked Zhejiang Province,the village of Banpu were snatched,also brought disaster to Zheng's family.As a typical farmer family,imperial examination family and cultural family,the Zheng's family met great challenges in the era of transition and finally disintegrated.The history witnessed its glorious and sufferings,brought new enlightenment in researching and inheriting cultures now.
