On The E-C Translation Of Informative Texts From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

This paper is a Chinese to English translation report,whose original text —Construction Manual belongs to Connecticut Department of Transportation,the United States.This Manual is the basic specifications of road and bridge constructions providing for its staff,and each specific project has its clear specifications.This report is mainly based on Chapter 1,Volume 2 of the Construction Manual which concerns environmental protection in construction projects of the United States.In this report,the author will firstly introduce the background and significance of the translation project,next carries out the text analysis and analyzes its language features from the stylistic,lexical and syntactic levels.After that the author tries to collect,categorize and analyze the key points and difficulties encountered in the translation process under the guidance of Peter Newmark's theory of Communicative Translation and some specific translation strategies like Recasting,Embedding and Reversion.Finally the author will summarize the shortcomings and gains of this translation project.
