This report delivers a detailed account of the operational process of the video subtitles transcribing and translating project undertaken by the author as a postgraduate student from its inception to completion. It first deals with the formative stage of the task which came along with the requirements from a client. In fact,in the process of this translation project,it was realized that the structure of this report after the completion of the job naturally found its expression. The basic aim of this report is to demonstrate the bridge between theories and practice and tentatively present a suggestion of setting up video transcribing and translation as an entry-level simultaneous interpreting training approach. As illustrated by Franz P?chhacker, for years, simultaneous interpreting trainers have been endeavoring to devise proper ways of honing the skills of simultaneous interpreting students. The proposal of setting subtitles transcribing and translation as a basic training method for simultaneous interpreting students is based on the fact that the existing training approaches for entry-level simultaneous interpreting typically listed and explained in the textbooks are shadowing and sight translation, which are quite similar to the operating process of video transcribing and translating. Therefore, this report will not only embody the integration of theories and practice in the translation process but also try to put forward this suggestion of adding subtitles transcribing and translation as a regular simultaneous interpreting training method.
