Subtitle Translation Of Nirvana In Fire From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

Taking the YouTube and Viki versions of subtitle translation in the 31st episode of Nirvana in Fire as the research object,the study analyzes how the translators of the two versions adapted to the eco-environment and whether the strategies adopted helped the audience understand the whole story.The study aims to answer three questions:1.What are the characteristics of the eco-environment?2.What kind of strategies did the translators adopt to adapt to the eco-environment?3.Can the translator's adaptive choice effectively satisfy the audience's demand?Guided by Gengshen Hu's eco-translatology theory,the study analyzes the adaptive strategies that translators used in both YouTube and Viki versions from the following dimensions:language,culture and communication.In order to prove the validity of the adaptive conversion,the author collected the on-screen comments of the video and analyzed them referencing the previous studies on effective dialogue.The conclusions are as follows:first,the eco-environment of this translation activity is restricted by the original script language and the features of subtitle translation;second,the translators of the two versions adapted to the eco-environment by adjusting the word order,removing redundant expressions,adding logical connectors,highlighting or obscuring cultural information,and adjusting the information density;third,the translators' strategies can effectively convey the information and help the audience understand the episode.Based on the conclusions above,the author believes that the strategies used in the 31st episode of Nirvana in Fire can help other translators when they translate subtitles for similar genres.
