With the progress of contemporary technology and the development of modern society, globalization has continuously penetrated to various aspects in our daily social life, including economy, politics, culture, trade, etc.Communications among different cultures rely on linguistic exchanges. However,in China,English as a foreign language is still not fully popularized. In this case, communications between China and other countries have to depend on the help and engagement of the third party, and naturally, translators and interpreters have taken the part of bridging this communication gap.Since 2001 when China joined the World Trade Organization, business activities and foreign trade of the country have been continually deepening, which, without doubt, generates an increasing need for business interpreters in the business market.Although now many universities and colleges have opened courses involving professional translating and interpreting,it still cannot well meet those needs, for the fact that: firstly, there is a relatively huge gap between the academic education and the actual market requirement towards business interpreters;secondly, students, whose majors are translating and interpreting, over concentrate on the theory and research of the language itself. Therefore, they are quite lack of actual operational flexibility and market-targeted orientation.Based on what is mentioned above, the thesis analyzes some characteristics of business interpreting between Chinese and English mainly through the analysis of extra-linguistic elements to help interpreters better understand the essence of business interpreting,so that they will not only be ready for the accumulation and preparation before the interpretation work, but well present the quality and performance of an interpreter in the business occasion.Besides, the thesis is also dedicated to,from a student's angle, providing some useful and meaningful advice for the setting of MTI courses, expecting that domestic MTI education can truly bridge its gap with practices and move towards a greater direction.
