As globalization advances, countries all over the world are becoming more interrelated. Individual countries start to conduct frequent economic exchanges and cooperation. An increasing number of enterprises come to China to engage in a variety of investment, financing and trade activities. The Victoria Jiangsu Business Placement (VJBP) program is one of the business and trade programs. This project report is divided into three sections:project preparation, project progress and project feedback. The participants include 12 entrepreneurs and 2 senators from Victoria, Australia. As the facilitator of the project, Jiangsu Federation of Commerce and Industry (JFCI) sends 14 interpreters to assist in individual entrepreneurs' daily affairs. The reporter, as the project interpreter, is mainly responsible for various types of small and medium sized conferences and helps to reach agreement through consultation and business negotiation. However, the reporter also encounters various problems during interpreting, including insufficient extra-linguistic knowledge, high requirements of cross-cultural awareness, mistakes in understanding and translation, and high pressure of short-term memory. Therefore, based on VJBP program, the reporter studies extra-linguistic knowledge, cross-cultural awareness and memory capacity to explore the significance and discuss the quality of interpreters in business interpretation. The aim of the report is to call for more attention to improve the quality of interpreters, and to effectively enhance interpreting skills and service quality so as to achieve balanced and all-around development in interpretation.
