| With the development of economic globalization,domestic products are going abroad.In the process of export,manuals play an important role.As applied texts,manuals introduce the product performance,structure,operation,maintenance.Therefore,a qualified manual is an important medium for the communication between businessmen and consumers.The skopostheorie has became a kind of relatively widely-accepted theory after several stages of the development and now it has developed into three core principles: skopos rule,coherence rule and loyalty principle.The Description of the Burner belongs to applied text,and its C-E translation has specific purpose.Therefore,the skopostheorie could guide its translation.Under the guidance of skopostheorie,this paper takes The Description of the Burner as an example.At first,this paper compares the characteristics of manuals in English and Chinese,and studies the problems that appear in the process of English translation.Then it analyses the machinery manuals from the lexical level,the sentence level and the text level.Finally,the paper draws a conclusion that translators in the industrial field should follow the skopos rule,coherence rule and loyalty principle.Therefore,the accurate information could be delivered to the reader,achieving the ultimate goal of product promotion. |
