As the exchange of international cultures becomes increasingly frequent, the world is witnessing a surge of demands for academic writing, with a large quantity of academic knowledge input and output. The translation of monograph on education aims to not only enhances the exchange and integration of different nations in field of education, but also to promote the development and application of educational theories. This practice report is based on the author's E-C translation practice of an English monograph called Effective College and University Teaching. This paper decodes the style of Effective College and University Teaching—an English academic writing on education—by comparing and analyzing the differences between source text and comparable text and adopting methods of qualitative and quantitative research.Under the theory framework of Rewriting theory and Stylistic theory, this report discusses how to recode the style of source text in accordance with characteristic analysis of target readers and the special translation function of Effective College and University Teaching. It puts forward some translation solutions from perspectives of lexicon, syntax and discourse by applying relevant knowledge from the field of stylistics,so as to make the E-C translation of Effective College and University Teaching more suitable for the features of Chinese academic writing and the demands of its professional target readers. As the adjustment of style has its connotation and belongs to tacit knowledge, translators generally deal with the style adjustment according to their subjective experience. However, the style of academic writing lies in every level of language expression, which is of great significance for translation quality. Therefore,a systematic analysis of style adjustment and its principles can provide references for later translation of the same kind.
