The Research Of The Third Person Effect On Parent-Control Of Viewing Cartoons

With the rapid development of new technology and media,children will exposure to animation more.Pre-school children are failed to have media literacy,negative factors in the animation is likely to have a direct impact on them.For pre-school children,parents are the only guardian and protector.in Jiangsu,an eight-year-old boy burned his friend by mimicking a bad scene in a famous carton across China.This arouses tremendous social attention and encourages to reform the current early-education in order to prevent children from harmful information.This study is on the basis of "the third person effect" theory,to explore whether parents have the third person effect on cartoon's negative impact,if exists,will it leads to different discipline behaviors on children.This research employes the network questionnaire method,which is delivered to parents of generaly 6 to 12 years old children.By analyzing 342 samples,the study shows that parents have the third person effect on cartoon's negative impact: the more cognitive are the parents,the more easily they will discipline their children,and vice versa..From the behavior standpoint,three kinds of behaviors are realized :"Control","Weak control" behavior and"participatory controls",which are contradicted to the parenting style," yet are related to the control behavior.The differential cognitive and irrational behaviors are not capable of guiding children with a proper and healthy way of watching censored cartoons,but rather,lead to negative influences.It has been indicated from the survey data that parents are normally subjected to cognitive bias and irrational senses.Hence,some essential suggestions are provided in Chapter 4,such as cultivating children's ability to interpret and criticize social media,properly classifying cartons as per children's ages,strengthening censorship for children,etc.With respect to these measures,Chinese animation market is expected to be well organized and help to create a clean and healthy environment for children's growth in China.
