| The art of tie-dye has been used on formal dress for a long history.During the Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty in Chinese history,the craft of Ran Xie,a way to dye patterns on the fabrics,was widely used to decorate the top-class silk cloths and other textiles,together with many other handicraft,such as brocade and embroidery.It has been warmly welcomed by the nobilities and became a delicate art of ornament which highly consumes time and human resource.Today,with the innovation of dying and weaving technics,the influence from the idea of cross-boundary and multi-dimensional art,and the change of social climate and public living style,the art of tie-dye growing in the contemporary context is now depositing the stale and bringing into the fresh in an inclusive manner.From the cultural ideology and expression forms,it has been constantly changing and developing,and has presented a whole new image when applicating to the modern formal dress.The technological support and the influence from the carrier are indispensable to the innovation of arts and crafts.The application of tie-dye in the design of modern formal dress is also the extension of the value of its culture and art.In this paper,the writer has researched the culture connotation and development laws of contemporary art of tie-dye,and analyzed the relationship between tie-dye and formal dress,its carrier,from both material aspect and spiritual aspect,in order to expand the morphological characteristics of the art of tie-dye as an ornamental craft,and at the meantime,enrich the aesthetic and style shaping of modern formal dress design.The characteristic of formal dress is principally presented by its dressing occasion and symbolic meanings.It is a kind of costume that should shows the etiquette in certain circumstance.Its category includes morning dress and evening dress,as well as the privileged customized dress.It is required to demonstrate the wearer's personal charm and temperament while comply with the etiquette in special occasions.The application of contemporary art of tie-dye is to interpret its artistic connotation in a higher stylish way.Moreover,it also carries the culture significance of the Orientalism in formal dress design and the promotion of national arts.From the aspect of application principle of contemporary art of bandhnu in the design of formal dress,variant categories and styles of formal dress have variant crafts and aesthetic requirement,which differ from the design principles and ornamental forms in the design of normal dress.This demands the corresponding level of standard of the implementation of technics,patterns,colors,and artistic effects of modern tie-dye art.Thusly,there should be a specific design method and aesthetic criteria to the application of contemporary tie-dye art in formal dress design.This could not only help itself to develop further in the formal dress design,but also promote its artistic value by the virtue of the feature of formal dress.By analyzing the development background,ornamental form,and culture connotation of contemporary tie-dye art,and combining its real application cases and development situation in modern formal dress design,this paper tries to summarize the application regulation,aesthetic connotation and innovation points of contemporary bandhnu art in formal dress design.This has been done from multiple aspect including its technology,patterns,colors and artistic styles,to analyze the multiple factors of its application on formal dress,including the outline of different dress style,features,and aesthetic feelings.On this basis,by combining the characteristics of the age and the trends of fashion,this paper applied the theory in to design and creation,and provided systematic theory and design method for the development of innovation application of contemporary tie-dye art in formal dress,with the purpose of promoting the application of tie-dye art and its innovative heritage. |
