Yelling for the modernization of the country and the independent personality as well as the spirit of freedom,the rural female writing in Hunan literature in 1980 s spoke highly of the modernity of rural female and examined and criticized the cultural ills reflected in rural female from the perspective of modern rational enlightenment.At the same time,the writers also realized completely some defects in western modernization process.To avoid the alienation of human beings,they turned their sights on returning to tradition,seeking the return and integrity of humanity.The rural female writing of Hunan literature for fantasizing image,plot and environment drew lessons from the theory of "Defamiliarization" in the art form and also was in deference to the theory of literary aesthetics of traditional Chinese for the pursuit of poetic image,plot and description of the environment.So the rural female writing of Hunan literature in 1980 s showed the characteristics of the conflicts between the tradition and the modernity.Specifically,the three causes of being of the characteristics are as follows:Firstly,it was the influence from traditional Chinese culture.That is to say,in the ideological content,the writers held the concept of “the benevolence loves the others” and the people-oriented spirit while conducting the rural female writing.As for the writing style,the writers focused on the poetic and aesthetic characteristics.Secondly,it was the influence from the western modern culture.That is,in the ideological content,the writers focused on the liberation of the human personality,and the rights,freedom,dignity as well as the happiness of individual development.As for the writing style,the writers tried to achieve the “alienation effect”,using the means of “Defamiliarization”.Thirdly,it's the impact of regional culture of Hunan.The writers dared to break the rules of traditional language form,and play a bold imagination to involve myths,legends,primitive religion,witchcraft and customs into their creation.That's why there existed a kind of magical,mysterious and magnificent style in the works,which was reflected in the literature “defamiliarization”.In addition,with the concept of“being natural and frank without decoration”,the writers tried to show a vivid portrayal to the rural natural scenery and folk customs with unique language form of Hunan regional characteristics,reflecting a return of traditional literature.The characteristics of the rural female writing in Hunan literature in the 1980 s,either traditional or modern,was a manifestation of “human nature”,the embodiment of sympathy,concern and respect for people.
