A Report On The Translation Of The Australia-China Investment Relations

The thesis is a translation report based on the translating project of a research report named: The Australia-China Investment Relationship—Law,Governance and Policy.The research report is done by scholars from the Australian Centre on China in the World of the Australian National University through their careful stating,analysing,and collecting facts and data.The study focuses on the current condition and the prospect of investment relationship between China and Australia;it compares the differences in the systems of the two countries.Readers may easily understand their patterns of the investment systems by its logical statement.The translation should be a good chance to get a systematic knowledge of the mechanism of trade and investment of Australia and a rational analysis of the investment relationship between China and Australia,especially for Chinese readers.The translation report provides an introduction of the source text by elaborating the content,characteristics of the source text,as well as the significance of the project of translating it into Chinese.The report also clearly states the preparations which were done for the translation project is written,consisting of stages of pre-work,extra-learning,and translating,and the designing of a detailed schedule for this project.The introduction of the functional equivalence theory,which is applied as a guidance of translating,is also elaborated in the literature review in the report.The last and major part of this report is a case study;the translator provides eight examples from two categories: word level and sentence level,which fully embody the translating methods and technics,and manifest some typical translating problems and the difficulties she encountered and how she solved them during the process.Furthermore,the report also contains the conclusion of this project from a general view,and a self-reflection of the translator.
