Documentary Creation Idea And Approach Of Chinese And Overseas Chinese From The Perspective Of Oral History

“Ups and Downs” is a documentary of Chinese and overseas Chinese,which faithfully records the struggling experience,living conditions,and national and family feelings of Chinese and overseas Chinese families in Ecuador of South America with camera.The development experience of the two Chinese families in Ecuador serve as the narrative clue.The interviewing scenes,character photographing,environment empty shot make up the picture language.The entire documentary is completed with actual recording and commentary as a supplementary to the picture.With the two families as representative,it presents the deep affection to homeland,strong identity to Chinese,inheritance and development of Chinese culture and overseas struggling and adaptation to unfamiliar environment of Chinese and overseas Chinese in Ecuador.It discusses macro things in a micro perspective and arouses people's thinking and sympathy.This paper explains the value and conception of such topic selection in this documentary “Ups and Downs”,and carries out a research on creation theories.The whole process of this documentary is illustrated here,from the early planning and mid-term shooting to the post-production.Through audio-visual language,the complex feelings of Chinese and overseas Chinese are shown in the documentary scenes,in order to bring intuitive emotional experience with oral history and documentary images combined,and to inherit and develop documentary aesthetics shooting philosophy.The application of subjective intervention can record real families and characters as well as promoting emotions with vivid details,so that more people understand Chinese and overseas Chinese families in Ecuador of South America,and they can obtain more profound understanding of national and family feelings,identity and cultural cohesion.
