Nowadays our society is a bilingual community,so the code-switching gets more popular.In foreign language class,code-switching happens in high frequency.According to the writer's observation,in the elementary Chinese class of TCSL,many Chinese teachers would switching codes between target language and medium language.Some scholars defined the kind of language teachers use in TCSL class as JY-language,corresponding to “Inter-language”,which for students.The respondents of this research is the elementary classes from Chinese Department of College of Chinese Language and Culture,Jinan University.The research recorded and observed the comprehensive courses in order to obtaining the data of the Chinese teachers' usage of code-switching.Otherwise,asking the teachers and students to fulfill the questionnaires,including8 classes.Due to the teacher's language in comprehensive course is more all-sided,almost covering all different aspects,and also avoiding the different request in teacher's language from other kinds of course,the survey only involves comprehensive course.The conclusion of this text is:Firstly,the frequency are vary from different teachers,most of them are between 40% and 80%,and most of the students hold the view that it is acceptable.However,teacher should consciously control the frequency of code-switching,“over-using intermediate language to explain the target language”is one of biased error of JY-language,in this text,it means over-using code-switching.Secondly,according to the recording and the feedback from students,comparing all of parts of one class,the proportion of code-switching is highest when teacher explaining the words.Moreover,the opinion of students is only Chinese should be used when introducing the new unit,remarking the exercise and analyze the text.In addition,in the mixed class where the students grasp different languages,most of teachers in our survey would ask other students who can speak the same language to help to explain the knowledge.It is accessible but teachers should do the test in time to estimate whether the student learn that point correctly.
