The Original And The Scene:Research On The Director's Creation Of The Documentary

This thesis comes from the author's documentary creation practice,increased from the creation of documentary to the theoretical summary,in an attempt to explore several ontological questions on the documentary production.For the documentary film director,if the previous creation is a choice,then the later production will arrange and control the choice.While all the selections and the structure,its core principle is the scene.This thesis mainly takes from three basic concepts and filed to do the research: the early stages of the original unorganized event,the unorganized structure in the late stage and the moral principles of the documentary production.As Bill Nichols put in his <Introduction To Documentary>,“Ethical issues are very important to documentary production”,which manifests the documentary creation's prerequisites,conditions and principles,the so-called morality is essentially running throughout the whole creation of the documentary,which is a formal proposition.In the early stages of playwright-director documentary production,the original material selection is the key point,intending to explain the unorganized events established by the undisturbed material object;in the second level,we are looking forward to see how the unorganized events make up to the unorganized structure,from the point,the overall layout and the whole construction,we try to discuss the nature of the “unorganized” documentary;finally,we come to the documentary' s core basis and principle: in the scene.All image narrative strategies can be used in documentary to restore an event or a scene,meanwhile,the base point of documentary creation is built on the principle of notification according with the material reality,that is ‘inform the recognition principle'.There is a certain boundary of all the premise and conditions,documentary is based on which the unorganized events associated with the event of a documentary to be only some of the unorganized structure.Unorganized event,the unorganized structure and the “in the scene” principle are made up the three issues in the documentary creation,also define the basic boundary distinguished from other types of films.Hereby,we were able to answer what is a documentary.
