In this dissertation, an analysis was done on Yu Li's films in a comprehensive and systematic way in four parts, which will be placed in a study view of the sixth-generation director group and the new century cultural background and focus on the female characteristics and Li's personal characteristics which reflects in her film. Try to refine Yu Li's unique, sophisticated personal style from her film-making, as a female director from the new generation directors. The first chapter studies Yu Li's film-making overview in the sixth-generation director group of the context of intergenerational system, include her influence and status in sixth-generation group and her unification and difference with them. The second chapter research into Yu Li's personalized film-making idea that deeply effect her narrative movie style. To analyze her modest and sincere and pragmatic spirit which convey in this idea in two aspects---film-making and audience dissemination. The third chapter discuss Yu Li's heritage and improvement of the documentary aesthetics from the sixth-generation director group. The forth chapter focus on the subject content of Yu Li's film:her concern for the subjects of women, to analyze the portrayal of women and the reveal of feminist consciousness inside her film; the female image in her film which break the maternal myth in the traditional Chinese film; the tragic of women from their marriage and sexual experience in the patriarchal society. In the conclusion part, we discuss the defect of her film and her prospect. Still, her accomplishment really impressed us, as for the future development, we should just wait and see. |
