Study Of Huang Peng-nian

Huang Peng-nian was one of the famous scholar,educator and politician in the late Qing Dynasty(1824-1890).The study of his academic works and political achievements is of great value at present.Through the chronicle compilition and textual analysis,this paper reviews Huang's life story,highlighting his main activities and contribution during he stayed in Zhili province since 1860's.The author consider that the association among Huang and some important statesman,officials and scholars;in addition also introduce the �Tao Lou school�led by him,which includes of the main members,their works,and their relationship with Huang.The conclusions are as follows: Huang Peng devoted his whole life to the reality,so his academic ideology was always combined with political practice and social development;furthurmeor,he made great contributions to the cultural,educational and academic development of Zhili Province in the late Qing Dynasty.
