Huai Nan Zi is a collection of works compiled under the auspices of Liu An,king of Huainan in the Western Han Dynasty. It assimilated various experiences with regard to the management of state affairs in early Han Dynasty, through which the authors explore the laws of nature and society, and tries to offer a set of complete national strategy for the stability of feudal dynasties. In the political ethics thought,Huai Nan Zi stands on the taoist,Huai Nan Zi actively absorbs the ideas of other schools, and incorporates the strengths of the ideas of pre-qin philosophers, with the guidance of Taoism. On the ontology,Huai Nan Zi insists on the theory of Tao,the universe and the theory of human nature. It believes that the Tao is the highest concept in the book, and that Tao is the noumenon and origin of all,and its political theory is the application of the theory of the Tao,the universe and the theory of human nature. In political ethics,Huai Nan Zi is discussed from the view of inaction,people-oriented,the rule of law and the view of talent,as well as the Monarch servant view.It also points out that in order to stabilize society, they must adhere to quietism, serving the people, using both law and morality, exalting persons of superior qualities and employing talents, and so on.And these ideas are still shining in today's society. With regard to the management of state affairs,Huai Nan Zi has abundant elite thoughts, which is still valuable for reference in modern society. And because the book inevitably has historical limitations,we should inherit in a critical way, which provides an effective reference for the current political development.
