This paper takes the international students in the college of International Exchange and Education of Hebei University as the research object,referring to Oxford(1990)language learning strategy scale,by means of questionnaire and semi-structured interviews,and with the help of computer softwares,such as Excel2007 and SPSS 18.0,the author understands the basic situation of the language learning strategies used by students in the process of learning Chinese.Meanwhile,the author also analysis the factors related to the choice and use of language learning strategies of international students.The study found that:In general,although the international students don't have a clear concept of language learning strategy,but they are intentionally or unintentionally using some learning strategies.Among them,meta-cognitive strategy and emotional strategy are commonly used and the compensation strategy is rarely used.The effect of gender factors is not obvious,but it's necessary to strengthen the use of compensation strategies by male students.Time,motivation,and the Chinese proficiency of foreign students have a certain impact on the choice of learning strategies,especially in the use of the overall strategy of the subjects.The main effect of these three factors is significant.This effect is more pronounced among learners who study Chinese less than 1.5 years and those who have a learning age of 4-5 years.Motivation has an impact on the overall and specific use of the strategies.The level of Chinese language is positively related to the enthusiasm of international students in the overall use of language learning strategies.The main effect of the mother tongue background is remarkableFinally,according to the characteristics of the students and the actual teaching resources of this school,the author puts forward some suggestions for the rational use of the learning strategies and the improvement of the Chinese proficiency of the students from the perspective of students and teachers,hoping to provide some inspiration and help to Chinese learning and teaching.
