A Report On The Chinese-English Interpretation Of Chinese Cuisine From The Perspective Of The Skopos Theory

Chinese cuisine,as a typical symbol of traditional Chinese culture,has been playing an increasingly important role in economic,political and cultural interaction in the globalization era.A proper interpretation of Chinese cuisine names can help promote the spreading of Chinese culture.This report is completed based on the interpreter's Chinese-English interpretation of Chinese cuisine names for American clients.The interpreter uses the Skopos theory,especially the four rules of the Skopos theory,namely the Skopos rule,the coherence rule,the fidelity rule and the loyalty rule to explore its feasibility in guiding the practice of interpreting Chinese cuisine by analyzing the mistakes made by the interpreter.This interpreting practice would be of vital significance to the interpreter's further study of interpretation.The report is divided into five chapters:first of all,the interpreter introduces the reasons for choosing Chinese-English interpretation of Chinese cuisine names as the report topic in the introduction which includes the background of the project and the significance of the report;the second chapter gives a detailed introduction of the preparation for the project,including meeting with clients,learning relevant terms and cultural allusions about Chinese cuisine,memorizing the official translation of Chinese cuisine.The third chapter is the overview of the Skopos theory and its four rules.The fourth chapter is to analyze some problems during the interpretation process and to find more proper and better interpretation solutions for further study and research under the guidance of the Skopos theory.The last chapter is the conclusion of the interpretation report.
