Calligraphy is an art written by Chinese characters for the purpose of presenting images.Cursive script is an important character style in the process of calligraphy development.While highly cursive script,with its unique artistic appeal and expressive force,embodies calligraphers' superior writing skill and emotional expression.This paper,A Study on the Evolution of Highly Cursive Script's Strokes,based on the evolution process of highly cursive script's writing style,interweaves with art aesthetic orientation of the same time.From the incubation period of highly cursive script's strokes in Qin and Han Dynasties and Wei and Jin Dynasties,to its mature period in Tang Dynasty,“Regular Script” period in Song Dynasty,and “Innovation” period in the late Ming Dynasty,through explaining the evolution of the forms of highly cursive script's strokes,this paper explores and studies on its handwriting derivation and the interaction of regular script and cursive script.By regarding these two issues as our research clue,it will help arouse our concern over the ignored issues of highly cursive script,that is,the interrelation of strokes and handwriting as well as posture.The following chapters respectively focuses on the different features of highly cursive script's strokes in different period.During the period of incubation in late Han dynasty and Wei and Jin dynasties,cursive script was first used for practical purpose,such as recording written message,delivering information,or set as an example of standard writing.At that time,strokes usually represented the functionality or standardization of writing.Later,calligrapher involved emotion expression and aesthetic image with correspondence writing,it was at that time that the strikes form of highly cursive script began to be combined with calligraphers' emotional state.When it came to the mature period represented by Zhang Xu and Huai Su(two prominent calligraphers of cursive script in Tang dynasty),strikes form had already become a full expression of calligraphers' exquisite skills and high spirits in writing,which fully reflects the interactive development of regular script and cursive script.The summary of strokes,writing styles,writing state and some other issues on calligraphy made in the “Discussion on Calligraphy” in Jin and Tang Dynasties,is of progressive significance to the introduction of highly cursive script into emotional writing and expression in later period.During the “Regular Script” period between Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty,under the influence of the popular regular script and the study of note,the strokes of highly cursive script was inevitably affected.At the same time,the influence of calligraphers of highly cursive script in late Ming Dynasty on modern highly cursive script's strokes and writing style was also narrated.
