Children's Literature(CL)is of the unique feature as it targets at children with the particular age,experience,and reading ability.Therefore,in translating CL,translators should take children's horizon of expectations into full consideration,and assist children in comprehending and accepting foreign CL.In accordance with readers' horizon of expectations and on the basis of the translating practice of The Cat and the Mouse:A Book of Persian Fairy Tale,this thesis will attempt to explore word translation method to meet readers' directed and creative expectations.For instance,to satisfy readers' directed expectations,colloquial words and interjections shall be used to make the book more comprehensible,and onomatopoeia and reduplication words shall be appropriate to improve vividness and musicality of the story.On the other hand,for the purpose of fulfilling readers'creative expectations,Chinese idioms and annotations are used to broaden children's knowledge.In addition,the questionnaire survey is conducted to check whether the translated text has met children's horizon of expectations.
