This is a translation practice report, which is an introduction, analysis and summary of the translation of a medical review from English into Chinese. The medical review has a large number of professional vocabularies, obscure sentences, and strong logic, which undoubtedly increases translator's difficulty in translation. In the early stage of translation, the translator was short of the reserve of the professional knowledge and thus dared not to break through the limitation of the forms and structures of words, sentences, and discourses of the original text. She relied on the“dictionary + grammar + parallel texts” method for translation. Therefore, the target language version was ‘translationese'.Inspired by other studies, the translator used formal logic to solve the problems like unclear concepts, broken sentences and incoherent discourse.Through the practice, the following conclusions are drawn:formal logic is an effective aid to improve the quality of translation. The correct conceptual thinking, the genus-species relationship between concepts and the law of identity provide new thinking perspectives for translators, which can help them deepen understanding of the original text and finally improve the quality of the target version. |
