In recent years, global warming has led to rapid seaice loss.Large-scale human activities such as resource exploitation, commercial navigation,as well as the increasing fight from those countries with an interest in the Arctic have made the problem of marine pollution more serious.In-depth studies on the translation of the literature concerning the shipping industry and Arctic ocean governance contribute to offering the latest information, thus enabling the industry to grasp opportunities and meet challenges.Against this background, the E-C translation of pertinent foreign texts of environmental protection is of great importance theoretically and practically. This report is based on the Chinese translation of the literature concerning the shipping industry and Arctic ocean governance, which is characterized by close logic and precise expression.During the translation,it is found that the conjunction "and" occurs very frequently and it seems reasonable and coherent to translate this word as "?" or "??",but in fact it is not.Instead,it connects phrases and clauses that have different logical relationships semantically. The precise translation of "and" contributes to the reproduction of the logic of the source language. There are few theses and literature of Chinese translation of "and" in maritime English based on the L ogical Translation Theory. Therefore, this report focuses on the Chinese translation of "and" in the literature of the shipping industry and Arctic ocean governance.Based on the Logical Translation Theory put forward by Yan Desheng, the author analyses "and" in different contexts and precisely translates them when connecting varied phrases and clauses that have different logic relationships, such as generic relation, intersection relation, exclusion relation, adversative relation, causal relation and other relations with translation methods including literal translation, conversion, amplification, combination and other methods from the perspective of formal logic:And it is expected that this research will provide reference for translators to translate relevant texts.
