Cultural Translation In The Context Of Skopos Theory

At present,more and more foreign tourists are interested in Chinese culture,many of them will travel to China to experience its culture and customs.Among tourist spots,Yunnan Nationality Village Scenic Area can display best China's time-honored history and cultural customs,hence it is one of the popular destinations chosen by foreign tourists.In this case,it is particularly important to better accomplish the Chinese English translation of these spots.On one hand,it serves to attract more foreign readers,on the other hand,it also shows better Chinese traditional history and culture.German functionalist translation theory fully emphasizes that purpose of translation plays a decisive role in the translation strategy.This kind of text,in which tourist materials should be set as the center of readers,to ensure the accuracy of information transmission.Selection of translation theories and strategies are the main embodiment of different viewpoints on C-E translation of tourist attractions.At present,in the translation of scenic spots,people widely concern and attach importance of the guidance of Skopos Theory,but there are no fully detailed attractions specific application methods in the theory of translation,nor did they delve into the guiding role of the theory of translation strategies.Through the translation of Yunnan Nationality Village Scenic Area and public signs,this study analyzes the common language errors as well as translation strategies in the translation of tourist materials,pointing out that the need of obtaining the information of readers can be satisfied in the translation of tourist materials in the context of the Skopos Theory.
